A MESSAGE FROM MARK ANDERSON: The first time I worked at Three Links was nearly 30 years ago. At that time, Pat Vincent and I were both attending Mankato State University, and had a few classes together. We both had the same goal, studying to become Nursing Home Administrators. One day, I told her that it may be helpful for me, as an Administrator, to understand and know what it was like to be a Certified Nursing Assistant… I believe she hired me on the spot. I worked weekends and discovered it to be a challenging job – physically, mentally and emotionally tough! But then, also rewarding, inspiring and satisfying.
I eventually graduated with a Master of Science in Gerontology and began working as an Administrator for The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society in Washington State and in Minnesota. I served the longest in Albert Lea, Minnesota, over 13 years, where I was Executive Director for both the Albert Lea Campus and the Austin Campus.
After serving the Good Samaritan Society for over 21 years, I decided to make a change and began working for Paradise Valley Estates (PVE) in Fairfield, California. During my tenure with PVE, my position title changed from Director of Operations and Health Services to Chief Operating Officer; however, many of my duties remained the same. PVE is a Continuing Care Retirement Community for retired military officers and spouses. A beautiful spot in the world, but not necessarily “home.”
Having served PVE just five years, I became aware of the available position at Three Links and decided to apply. My first day was January 30 of this year, and yes, it was cold coming from California!
My wife Teresa and I have six children, two girls and four boys. Four of our children have graduated from college, one is a freshman in college and our youngest is a freshman in high school. Our third child and his wife have made us happy grandparents as well! Having grown up in Faribault, I am well aware of the great place Northfield really is!
I look forward to getting to know the people we serve – the residents, their family members, our staff and the community. It is a privilege to serve as CEO and administrator at Three Links and to be a part of community which cares.
